Wall Mounted Guitar Hanger

A wall-mounted guitar hanger was built to display multiple instruments. The design is simple: a wooden board with custom fabricated metal brackets, mounted into wall studs.

The mounting plates were cut from plate steel and drilled for two fasteners each. The U-shaped cradle was bent from rod stock using a tubing bender. To form the small raised ends that keep the guitar seated, the finished U-shape was set in an arbor press with a bar laid across it and pressed down.

Four brackets were made in total. Plasti-Dip was applied to each one to protect the guitar finish from bare metal contact — the same rubber coating used for tool handles.

The board was plain stock lumber. A router was used to add a decorative edge around the perimeter, then finished with a red stain. Once complete, the brackets were mounted to the board at even spacing and the whole assembly fastened to wall studs.
